Georgia Tech To Expand EDA Simulations with $13 Mil. Gift

The Georgia Institute of Technology is establishing a new electronic design automation simulation center with the help of Agilent. The global tech firm made one of its largest investments to a higher education institution when it donated $13 million in EDA software, support, and training to Georgia Tech's Georgia Electronic Design Center in Atlanta.

Hitachi Software Engineering America has debuted its new StarBoard FX 77 Duo, an interactive whiteboard that supports multiple simultaneous input. Targeted toward the education and presentation market, the whiteboard uses Hitachi Soft's StarBoard software to allow multiple users to interact with the device at the same time and to allow for gestural control of presentation materials.

Georgia College Deploys BioPassword Authentication

Berry College in Georgia is adding biometrics to its security strategy--not for building access control or food services, where biometrics can typically be found, but on individual computers. The technology, BioPassword Enterprise Edition, from a company called BioPassword Inc., will be used to provide an additional layer of security to protect school data using nothing more than users' own keystroke rhythms.
