Leopard Update Tackles Security, Active Directory Issues

Apple has released an update to Mac OS X Leopard. The new version, 10.5.5, addresses issues with security, stability, and application performance and is available now for all versions of Leopard through 10.5.4.
Among the numerous general enhancements in the new version are updated security fixes, including a fix for Kerberos authentication issues that arose with some Samba servers; various stability issues, including video playback, remote disc sharing, and processor core idling; and a range of Active Directory issues.
The new version also includes several performance improvements and improvements to graphics, as well as enhancements to individual applications, including Mail, Address Book, Disk Utility, Directory Utility, and iCal. For users of MobileMe, Mac OS X 10.5.5 improves sync and "Back to My Mac" reliability. And for Time Machine users, it improves overall reliability with Time Capsule devices and backup performance and adds the ability to back up iPhone backups that are stored on the Mac.
The Mac OS X 10.5.5 update is available now for all versions of Mac OS X 10.5 through 10.5.4. A separate security update (2008-006) for Mac OS X 10.4.x (Intel and PPC) is also available. Further information, including a link to a standalone installer, can be found here.
