UMassOnline Credits Record Enrollment with Program Offerings

UMassOnline yesterday announced record enrollment and revenues for fiscal 2007. UMassOnline is the online learning division of the University of Massachusetts. The organization said it credits the record enrollment with "the depth and breadth of our program offerings," according to David Gray, CEO.For the fiscal year 2007 (beginning July 2006), enrollment increased about 25 percent to 26,627 compared with fiscal 2006. Enrollment in 2005 was 17,661; enrollment in 2006 was 21,202. In addition, revenues increased 32.1 percent over the previous year. Revenue for online programs was $28 million, up from $21 million in 2006.
“UMassOnline enables students to have the same access to award-winning faculty, programs, and learning as found in a physical classroom at any of the five campuses,” said Gray. "More people are learning online now, and more online learning programs are entering the market than ever before. The high standards employed by the University system have enabled UMassOnline to harness this quality and pass it on to the growing number of students, professionals, and lifelong learners that have already chosen us for a quality education that will stand the test of time."
UMassOnline, which launched five years ago, presently offers 69 online degree and certificate programs. Its programs come through the University of Massachusetts system's five campuses, which include Amherst, Dartmouth, Boston, Lowell, and the Medical School in Worcester.
