Shaw U Partners for Community Service Program

Relational Technology Solutions, a technology solution provider, announced its partnership with Shaw University to help provide hardware and IT consulting for Shaw's community service project to improve technology at community service center located in Raleigh, NC. Relational is one of the four companies partnering with Shaw University in its "Bridging Global Initiatives & Community Beyond the Gates" program. Avaya, Extreme Networks, and Citrix have also partnered with Shaw for the program."By launching this community service project, we intend to facilitate dialogue between Shaw and a wide array of organizations--both public and private, for profit and non-profit--[that] share our vision of fostering intellectual enhancement and technological skills both within and beyond the gates of our institutions," said Martel Perry, Shaw University's executive vice president, in a prepared statement.
The university's program will expand on Top Green Community Centers Internet technology and University access. Newly installed IP phones will provide access to university services using IP telephony technology. According to Relational, the technology "uses Voice over Internet Protocol to transmit voice as data over a computer network." Using the same technology, a touch-screen interface will also be available to users wanting to access university services.
The program will also provide adult education class with instruction in basic computer skills, Internet access and general word processing. According to Relational, students will receive scholarships in exchange for leading trading courses.
Shaw University is a private university located in Raleigh, NC.
